HOUSTON ATTRACTIONS - HOUSTON TOURIST ATTRACTIONS

Houston AttractionsHouston Attractions - Museums - Houston is a diverse, international city. People from all over the world have come to the city to live, some bringing unique pieces of artwork with them. There are collections all over town, but most of the museums are near the Montrose in the Museum District which is near most of the main Houston attractions. From fine arts to contemporary, modern, urban, historical and even natural pieces, you are sure to find a museum to enjoy that fits your taste. There is even a children's museum where kids can get involved with the exhibits that center around health and human development, the arts, history and culture and science and technology.

The Holocaust Museum is dedicated to preserving the memory and educating the young and old about the horrors of the Holocaust through photos, exhibits and written testimony of the survivors who have settled in Texas. This is one of the best tourist attractions in Houston. The Museum of Natural Science has the Cockerell Butterfly Center with a living rainforest and many specimens of exotic insects. They also have an Imax Theater, Burke Baker Planetarium and special exhibits that rotate through the museum. For classic art lovers, exhibits at the Museum of Fine Arts will take your breath away. The somewhat bohemian and sometimes ancient collections of the Menils are housed in the Rothko Chapel, the Byzantine Fresco Chapel, and a few other museums that are often free to the public. Some of the museums as well as the major Houston attractions offer guided tours, so if you would like to partake in one, call ahead to reserve a spot.

Houston's diversity is reflected in the beautiful and often thought provoking works of art that reside in its museums. No matter what your taste, you will be both delighted and enchanted by them along with the great Houston attractions avaiable.
